"La La Island" - A mutant vehicle build for Afrikaburn 2019.
This project was done by a team of woman over 3 months leading up to Afrikaburn in 2019. We collected plastic from beaches and the city to use as recycled material for the project.
We used recycled netting and plastic bags to create the base and then created different plants out of plastic bottles to decorate the van on the outside.
We also took the seats out and transformed the inside of the van for comfort and aesthetics.
We installed lights and blacked out the bottom of the van with cardboard and paint to create an illusion that the plants were floating in space.
